The hurrier I go, the behinder I get. . .

Too much going on this weekend, trying to do laundry and housework, and beading and knitting. . . so, this will be short and sweet. (Just like me!)

Made up some stitch markers for a friend, Cindy, in FL who was once living here in Ky, but decided to move South when her husband did. Wise choice, I think. Ok, so tell me which ones you like in this bunch! Come ON! Comment!

We had Bailey spaded this weekend, as we decided we could hardly handle her, never mind getting a litter of these Australian Shepards!! So, I've also been trying to keep her calm and relaxed. Well, hell, it just ain't workin' so, I've cooped her up in the laundry room area to make her lay down. Good God, you would think she would have a bit of pain, wouldn't you?

OK, off to get some knitting done, the doily I am working on is a definately slow going. On one row you have a double yarn over, the next row you have to knit, purl into that double yarn over, then the next row you K2Tog for those two stitches! I am really having a time of it, the needles are size 0's and addi's with the crappy point. But, I say, find me a size zero from anyone else with a good lace working join! Anyone have any suggestions??

Have a good week!

UFO'S turn into WIP'S (Sometimes!)

This week, I have been learning new things and this for some reason always makes me go out there and try to find every scrap of information about the new “thing”. So, for one I learned how to make two socks on one circular needle using the magic loop method and a few websites in between. Here is the evidence:

Not sure I like the striping pattern this yarn is taking, but I’ve gotten way too far to rip out now!

I’ve also been playing with my beads and wire this weekend, and I have finally gotten pretty good at the “P” loop and the “S” chain, but I didn’t take pictures of that.

I’ve also decided that since I have “startitis” that if I start something new, then something old must come out of the UFO basket. So, this doily was chosen, and now I am having so much fun with it my socks are languishing! I tried to show you two photos, but Blogger and I are not getting along today! This photo is a pretty good representation of the true color:

And the final photo of the day is to show that the DFS really is a finished object! I think it's just the right size for me too!

Finished DFS Yeah!

I have finally finished my DFS Shawl, and here is proof!

You know, I can't do anything without this guy -
This was made with Lisa’s Original Sock! Yarn in Sky Drama. I worked with 3.75mm needles and I got 7.5 repeats, I was hoping for 8 but I think I would have run short. So, I quit.

I haven’t decided if it is blocked “too severely” or not, but I do hope it will hold it’s shape.

Went to Joe’s Crab Shack in Nashville for dinner with Chris for our belated anniversary celebration, and ran into a bunch of country music fans celebrating Fan Fare – forgot all about that, but it was fun and the food and drink was good, even got a humongous desert, chocolate cake in like, seven layers. Yum!

Anniversary: meaning returning yearly: this is #23

Chris and I are one of the fortunate ones, we return to this date year, after year and celebrate our lives together. I couldn’t have asked for a more compatible person to live, love and literally bond with, and that bond relates to everything we are: our kids, our home, our jobs, and our separate interests. So, after all that sappiness, I say Happy Anniversary, to Us!

I think I said somewhere, that when I get stressed out I tend to spend money, and lots of money it seems! I have recently been working toward the year end audit at work, and that entailed employing an outside firm to get out tax provisions corrected, and a business valuation prepared, plus getting all the accounts reconciled for the three gentlemen coming in to do our internal audit. Did I tell you, that I work for a US based Japanese company and the auditors were all Japanese and spoke no English?? Well, I was really stressed, but lived through it all and we did fabulously (Thank – you, Karen for all your help!!) . I am so relieved!

I thought I would show you some of the yarn I purchased from Lisa's and what I am hoping to do with it. I had originally intended to make Ella from this yarn, but after receiving it and just wowing about the color I think now I am going to make this instead: I have to check guage first of course, but I am hoping the yarn is stout enough to make the twisted stitches pop, and who knows? Maybe next week, I’ll have a swatch to show you!! (With safety in mind, I hope you won’t hold your breath!)
Oh, and just in case you are wondering, I am on the last repeat on DFS, #8, I am not entirely sure I will make it to the end, so I may stop half way and start the i-cord bind off. I would hate to run out of yarn!

The other item on the plate lately has been beads, and jewelry making, well, all I have to show for it is some stitch marker’s I have made for a friend (Hi, Diane!) I hope she likes them!

Till next week, then –
